Biography
Stormie has been painting for over 22 years. Raised in the Pacific Northwest on San Juan Island, the island was a beautiful & artistic environment. Her father was a renowned & award winning Executive Chef who not only showcased his artistry through food, but also through his intricate ice sculptures.
In the early 90's, she moved to Chico, Ca to pursue a career in the Healing Arts. In 1995 she graduated from the Healing Arts Institute and School of Alternative Health Care and started her own Practice. Painting remained a fun and creative outlet on the side. After 20 years in business, she was able to retire early allowing her to pursue her other love-Oil painting. As a mother of two boys, this was a dream come true. She feels her experience in the healing arts transcends into her paintings.
During her pursuit of a formal education she met Cynthia Taylor, a fine arts oil painter and teacher in Napa, CA. www.cynthiataylorstudios.com. They immediately "connected". She started studying under Cynthia & continues to study with her every week in her Napa Studio. Cynthia's work is collected Internationally. She is showcased in prestigious galleries in Napa Valley, Hawaiian Islands and Arizona. Cynthia's training has been invaluable for Stormie's growth as an Artist.
In May 2017, Stormie entered her first fine arts competition and was awarded Best of Show & First place by Judge Shirley Hazlett, www.shirleyhazlett.com
She divides her time between the Napa Studio & her home Studio (pictured)
